Earth Hour : One Hour Of Darkness For A Brighter Future

I’ve been supporting the Earth Hour movement since it was introduced to me by a friend in 2009. I even attended the events held in SM Megamall last 2011 and 2010, where the shopping center dim its lights in support for the cause.

You may ask, What Is Earth Hour? Earth Hour is a global event organized by WWF (World Wildlife Fund). Usually held on the last Saturday of March annually, asking households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change. The first Earth Hour event takes place in Sydney Australia, when 2.2 million residents of Sydney participated by turning off all non-essential lights in 2008.

This year’s Earth Hour will take place on March 31, 2012 from 8:30p.m. to 9:30p.m., at participant’s local time.

This is one way to show my support for the Earth Hour.

  3. Great pictures! I’ve tried contacting the Mayor’s office of my home city about participating but no luck yet :/ There’s an excellent documentary film out called “The City Dark” by Ian Cheney that explores the effects of light pollution on our culture and the environment. It’s definitely a good watch!
