His Airness said it.
For all those years since the end of Jordan era in NBA (National Basketball Association), many speculated who will be the next “Michael Jordan”. From Stackhouse, to Vince “Air Canada” Carter, TMac, Ray Allen, Iverson and many more. But nothing can be compared to Michael Jordan’s or at least comes close to “His Airness“, his greatness than Kobe Bryant, 13x NBA All-Star and playing Shooting Guard for the Los Angeles Lakers. As what MJ said through his writer Roland Lazenby
“Kobe’s ultimate competition is MJ. That’s why MJ watches him. MJ made people think what he was doing wasn’t human. Ditto the Kobester.
I never said Kobe was better than MJ. MJ just told me Kobe’s the only one to have done the work, to deserve comparison.“
To tell you the truth, this is not surprising at all. I still remember Kobe in his first all-star game playing against Jordan, and you could tell even then, Jordan knew this kid was gonna be special. The man called “Black Mamba” is a “almost” complete copy of MJ, a down-grade version of Jordan or what we call it Kobe as “MJ Lite”. From package of skills, his drive and fire to win games, competitive instinct, his work ethics, moves and even ego, it was almost like “Mike“.
Being acknowledged by no other than MJ himself is a great individual accomplishment for KB. To be the only player that truly deserves the comparison to MJ is an accomplishment for him.
So to Mr. Kobe Bryant, the deadly “Black Mamba” of L.A. Lakers, my only team since 80s, its a big applause and congratulations to you.
To the one who calls himself “King” or “Chosen One“, better luck next time.. LOLZ!
“He knows my process,” Bryant told Yahoo! Sports. “He knows how I work. How I train. How I approach the game. It’s a great compliment.”, His reaction after knowing what Michael Jordan said.
