Why I Support RH Bill?

Pregnant BellyIts been a while now since this controversial Reproductive Health Bill was first discussed. Why so controversial? Because, this proposed law once again pit the Government against its formidable enemy in terms of morality, the Catholic Church. Their call for their laity not to support the said bill is so strong that they are ready for the call of Civil Disobedience if they need it. Their reason for this is because this bill might cause another form of corruption and immorality to the citizen. They even cite that those contraceptives are abortive and can cause cancer.

But here I stand against them. They became uninformed and close minded to the facts that this bill is really needed for the sake of the State basic institution, the Family. Rather than helping and discussing to find same grounds on how to support it, they only shout and call those supporters whores, satanists or immoral.

So I ask once again, why support the bill? Simple, I’m supporting the bill because, this bill will not only help the communities especially those who really in need of it for contraceptives, condoms, IUDs, and like. This bill also empowers education in terms of reproductive health and how to plan a family. This RH will also educate the students of their re-productivity and help them to understand the issues of being pregnant, engaging in unsafe sex and having big family that can’t be provided by the suppose parents.

The bill will also made a standard on how the LGUs will handle the situation in addressing Population Control, and try not to re-create again the use of executive powers of the LGU to stop the distribution of artificial contraceptives to its citizens for the sake of the Church whims. Remember a time when the then mayor Lito Atienza of Manila ban the distribution of the said contraceptives and isolate its poor populace to have their need to control their RH? This bill will address that issue so nothing more will happen again like what Mr. Atienza did once to those citizens of Manila.

And RH Bill is not just all about contraceptives. This bill if becomes a law will enact as a way that, this will give the couple especially the woman of freedom and guidance on how to control their growing family without the prejudice or discrimination from other groups of society. Thru this bill, they will have access on government funding in distribution of artificial methods of family planning. This bill will not alienate the Natural method of family planning which the Church supports but this will broadens its support, not any more just as principle but now as codified law that the State supports both forms of family planning, the natural and artificial. This bill also re-iterates that this will not support and tolerate abortion but will help those women who undergo abortion procedure thru counseling. With this bill, it will educate the citizens weather in the higher, middle or lower class on how to properly manage a better and healthy family lifestyle in regard to reproductive health. This bill will also help to minimize the ballooning population of the state which is one of its objective. And help to decrease the mortality rate of birthing mothers and her unborn child.

I hope by this little opinion of mine, many will understand the benefits of passing this bill. And with RH Bill we see a brighter future of our dear country who really needs it.And with this bill, the close mindedness of the majoring society will now open up a bit for the addressing of such taboo like sexuality and other issues which the Church might not support to.

  2. before you implement this foreign policy in the Philippine soil study first those countries who implemented this RH Bill. This is a big failure to control the population. Since it is a failure they amended the BILL and they resort in legalizing abortion. Once it became a law it is easy to amend and legalize abortion.
