“What is wrong with inciting intense dislike of a religion if the activities or teachings of that religion are so outrageous, irrational or abusive of human rights that they deserve to be intensely disliked?” – Rowan Atkinson

We all know Rowan Atkinson. the rubber faced man best known as the character Mr. Bean. We adore, laugh and loved the character. Listed in The Observer as one of the 50 funniest actors in British comedy, and amongst the top 50 comedians ever in a 2005 poll of fellow comedians. Also had cinematic success with his performances in the Mr. Bean movie adaptations Bean and Mr. Bean’s Holiday and in Johnny English and its sequel Johnny English Reborn. A car enthusiast, But as a real person, we know that he is an intellectual and a not “no-sense” person.

UPDATE:

Rowan Atkinson took part in the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in London on 28 July in 2012. It was a pleasant surprise for fans of British humour. Rowan was warmly welcomed by the audience. He joined the symphony to play “Chariots of Fire.” He became so bored from playing his one note that he pulled out his phone, took some pictures, sneezed, then day-dreamed his part in “Chariots of Fire.” With the help of a car, he won the race on the beach.

  1. It seems the religion Rowan Atkinson was referring to is a sweeping generalization of all religions. This is a very typical fallacy of neo-atheists.

The Truth is religions are NOT the same, they have differences. The religion established by Jesus Christ, the God who assumed human nature, is very different from the rest.

Sure, you can lump His religion with the others at your own risk. Go ahead, be my guest.

    • “It seems the religion Rowan Atkinson was referring to is a sweeping generalization of all religions. This is a very typical fallacy of neo-atheists.”
      – The problem here is that you opined without REALLY understanding first what Rowan Atkinson is saying or better yet asking, “What is wrong with inciting intense dislike of a religion if the activities or teachings of that religion are so outrageous, irrational or abusive of human rights that they deserve to be intensely disliked?”
If you look closely he is not generalizing as what you are misquoting when he said, “What is wrong with inciting intense dislike OF A religion…”. What he just did is using his common sense when talking or asking about a dislike of a religion. Put your self in a position and take “A” religion into a person, will you not dislike that person if that person is “so outrageous, irrational or abusive “?

“The Truth is religions are NOT the same, they have differences.”
All religions are the same, all of them are “Faith” base. And the religion Jesus established if he ever existed is the same as his predecessors.

“… you can lump His religion with the others at your own risk. Go ahead, be my guest.”
      – What?! What religion are you referring to?

      • If Rowan Atkinson is referring to a specific religion that he dislikes, the same way that one dislikes a specific person, WHY DON’T he specify and name that religion he is referring to?

If he is referring to Islam, is he afraid of mentioning and specifying it?

        • If you are to incite intense dislike on something, a group or an individual perhaps, do you really have to specify who or what it is?! You’re lame dude! That guy is an Englishman, he might tell you something you might not understand, the way we Canadians will not be easily understand if we said something
Wow! Try to comprehend will you?

          • Or Mr. Atkinson meant to make a “sweeping generalization” of all religions. And that was my point in my earlier comment:

The Truth is religions are NOT the same, they have differences. The religion established by Jesus Christ, the God who assumed human nature, is very different from the rest.

Mr. Atkinson and all new new atheists are wrong in making such “generalization”. It is utterly wrong to equate the religion built by Our Lord Jesus Christ or Christianity with a “man-made” religion advocating violence as part of their religious options.

    • Can you point out where did Mr. Atkinson said his “sweeping generalization” against all religion? Because I don’t see one.
